Ian is a CIPFA qualified accountant, has an MBA and MSc from the University of Portsmouth, a BSc in Accounting and Economics from Southampton University and is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute.
Ian worked for over 25 years in the complex financial and managerial world of the National Health Service as both a Finance Director and a Chief Executive. He also have extensive experience of working in the social enterprise charity sector both as a Chief Executive and a Trustee and is a passionate advocate that students should experience volunteering in the charity sector whilst at University.
Ian has a research interest in supporting international students make successful transitions to studying at UK Universities, having recently completed an MSc in Research Methods, obtaining a distinction.
Ian has an interest in 21st Century military accounting history and has recently commenced a PhD exploring the impact of accounting on the logistics and planning for D Day 1944.
Ian is International Direct Entry Course Leader for two Accounting Programmes and ICP Link Tutor for the Business School having taught for five years at the University.
As a Senior Teaching Fellow he is unit co-ordinator for the Business Analysis and Decision Making level 5 unit and also teaches on the level 4 Business Accounting unit. He is also a personal tutor for international students and teaches on the Studying in the UK Business Environment Tutorial programme.
Ian has a specific international student research focus and also has a research interest in military accounting history.
