I joined Portsmouth Business School as Lecturer in Accounting and Financial Management in February 2015. Prior to the appointment, I have been doing a PhD at University of Bath. My research focuses on the application of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and stock performance forecasting amid major accounting regime changes. During my time at Bath, I also taught seminars on a variety of accounting and finance related units (both UG and PG levels) and acted as E-tutor on a global MBA programme at Manchester Business School during 2010/2011. I graduated from Cardiff University with a BSc in Accounting and have an MSc in Finance and Investment from University of Bristol.

Teaching Responsibilities

Financial Management seminars (level 5 unit); Personal Tutorial (level 4 & level 6); MSc Dissertation Supervision (level 7).

My research interests are primarily in the following areas: the adoption of IFRS, stock performance forecasting and market efficiency. In particular, I look at the impact of IFRS adoption on financial statements (i.e. key financial ratios) and accounting quality in the mandatory context. I am also interested in examining the usefulness of financial ratios in predicting stock market performance amid major accounting regime changes (from local GAAP to IFRS), contributing to the debate on whether the switch to IFRS provides more useful information that translates into benefits observable in the capital market.
