Volunteering Fair

As the employment market becomes more competitive, employers want to see more than a degree on a graduate CV, you now also need to evidence a strong set of transferable skills relevant to the role you are applying for, and this is where volunteering can help.

Volunteering is a fantastic way to experience different career paths, develop your skills, gain course-related experience and ensure you develop your employability to enter the job market competitively.

In the last academic year, over 2000 students at the University of Portsmouth accessed volunteering opportunities via our in-house Volunteering Bank, the Students' Union, the Sport & Recreation department, and for academic credit.

The Careers and Employability Service maintains close links with a wide variety of third sector organisations including local schools, the police, the NHS, charities, social enterprises and other not for profit organisations who provide volunteering opportunities. Many of these organisations will also be attending the fair this year, so make sure you make the most of this opportunity and come along!

If you have any questions get in touch with the Volunteering Team at volunteering@port.ac.uk or pop in to the Careers and Employability Service on Guildhall Walk every Thursday between 11am - 1pm. We look forward to meeting you!
