What is the HEAR?

The Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR) is an electronic document providing a comprehensive record of your achievement during your period of study. The HEAR will not only capture information relating to your qualification, but section 6.1 will also contain the wider achievements you undertake on an extracurricular basis; such as:

  • Volunteering activities (either one off or longer term)
  • Students Union activities such as clubs and societies
  • Professional and Departmental Prizes Awarded
  • Committee Positions, Course and Faculty Representatives

You will receive two types of HEAR documents: Interim reports following the end of each academic year and a final report following graduation.

Each HEAR is unique to every student and recognises the range of accomplishments you have achieved.

How can I record my experience?

The Volunteering Team in Purple Door are keen to hear about the volunteering activities you have undertaken whilst studying at here in Portsmouth.

We keep a record of any volunteering activities you apply to through our Volunteering Bank, so it is important you let us know when you commence your volunteering so we can include this in our Spring submission! We are also able to verify the volunteering you source independently with a third sector organisation.

All you need to do is click on the volunteering button below and fill in a short form and provide evidence of your activities.

There are other departments within the University that also undertake HEAR submissions and we work closely with them to ensure your achievements can be verified.

If you have any questions relating to recording your volunteering, please contact the Volunteering Team on: volunteering@port.ac.uk

When can I access my HEAR?

You will be able to access your HEAR documents at veri.port.ac.uk (details coming soon via email), and share them with 3rd parties such as sponsoring bodies or prospective employers. This is a secure website which allows you to share your information with third parties. No data will be passed onto third parties without your permission.

The HEAR will be issued to all undergraduate and integrated masters students who started their courses from the start of the 2013/14 academic year onwards. Interim HEARs will be published during the autumn following each academic year and will include results for that year and achievements recorded during the preceding years.

Following Graduation, final HEAR documents will be issued, which will represent  the definitive complete version published by the University for each graduate.
