Our dedicated Volunteering Team  help charities and not-for-profit organisations promote skilled volunteering roles, which require regular commitment.

These roles will be promoted either across the entire campus or to an agreed cohort of students studying a subject area relevant to the volunteering role they are applying for.

Last year over 700 students were placed in skilled volunteering roles including Law students volunteering in advocacy roles, Social work students undertaking coaching and mentoring opportunities, and Speech and Language students reading with local school children. Other student volunteering tasks included marketing, website design, events management, and accountancy.

The Careers and Employability volunteering services are free as part of our aim to support organisations in the community.

We prefer to meet you and get to know your organisation, understand your needs, and highlight the type of opportunities available via our service.

Volunteering opportunities are advertised through our Online Jobs Board, in our paper based volunteering bank and via faculties to ensure students with relevant skills and expertise can assist your organisation’s needs.

We also support you in your volunteering recruitment process and may be able to offer free interview room and training space in the Careers and Employability Centre if required.

Third Sector Requests

Should you wish to engage with the university with something other than a request for volunteering support, please still complete our online enquiry form and the Volunteering Team will then facilitate your request and put you in touch with the relevant point of contact in the university.
