Centre for Counter Fraud Studies

Counter Fraud Conference

The 9th Counter Fraud and Forensic Accounting Conference, Wednesday 5th - Thursday 6th June 2019

Centre for Counter Fraud Studies (CCFS) / Business and Law Accounting Group (BALAG)

We are pleased to announce our 9th CCFS/PBSAG annual conference will be held on the afternoon of Weds 5th June and Thursday 6th June, 2019 in Park Building, here at the University of Portsmouth.

This year we will also be running an optional extra half day starting on Wednesday 5th June 2019 starting at 13.00 pm. The conference fee will include admission to both.

This will be another unique event in the calendar of fraud conferences by combining invited speakers with opportunities for practitioners, academics and researchers to offer papers to present to their peers. There will be a limited number of slots available for those who have conducted research or have innovative ideas to present papers at the conference. We are particularly interested in papers on forensic accounting, technology and countering fraud, psychology and fraud, and occupational corruption.

Those students who have recently completed dissertations on a subject they would like to raise the profile of are also encouraged to submit. Any other area related to enhancing the fight against fraud and raising standards amongst the counter fraud and forensic accounting community would also be welcome.

If you are interested in speaking at our conference, please submit the following by Friday 22nd February 2019 to dean.blackbourn@port.ac.uk:

  • a title
  • short abstract/paragraph detailing in more detail your proposed paper
  • a brief biography about yourself

(N.B. If any of the above are missing in your application then consideration will not be given).

Those whose papers are accepted will not have to pay the conference fee and while the conference will be free for current University of Portsmouth students only, there remains a small charge for non-students attending.

If there is a particular session you would like to organise we would also welcome your suggestions.

Previous conference papers can be found via the links below.

Opportunities for Sponsorship

There will be opportunities for sponsorship of the conference and for stalls at the conference venue. We are particularly interested in a potential sponsor for a drinks reception being held on Wednesday 5th June 2019. If you are interested in sponsoring, then please contact Professor Mark Button at mark.button@port.ac.uk.
