Women's and Gender Studies

This interdisciplinary research group includes scholars from a range of disciplines including history, sociology, media and film, education and social studies working on aspects of women/gender issues in a range of historical, social and cultural contexts. There are a number of areas of interest including religion and gender in the English Civil War, the women’s suffrage movement in Edwardian Britain, auto/biographies and life stories, Second Wave Feminism, femininities and alcohol consumption, intersections of feminism and race, gender and education, gender and sexual harassment, the civil rights movement in the USA, women and gender in North Africa and Taiwan, gender and international development. We hold regular seminars and organise the International Women’s Day Lecture.
