My dissertation focuses on female African travelers who travel from and within Africa in the pursuit of knowledge, self-fulfilment and in search of personal identity. My main aim is to highlight the importance of women's roles and the way they demonstrate their merits in order to be heard nationally and globally. My focus of attention will be on the inequality women are still faced with compared to men. I will explore whether or not travel can be a means of finding one's identity and sense of belonging.

My research interests are: Postcolonial African literature, African Travel writing, Post-colonial, feminist theory, Transgression as well as Identity.
