An Emirati Student, Rashid obtained both a Bachelors of Arts (Hons) degree in Criminology and a Masters of Research in Criminology and Socio-Legal Studies from the University of Manchester. Upon graduation, Rashid started working in the Dubai Police, where he worked on Major crime cases such as Homicide and Rape. This gave Rashid an insight on how the Police force in Dubai operates and how they can improve. Rashid is currently working towards his PhD in the Institute of Criminal Justice Department at the University of Portsmouth with Dr Becky Milne and Prof. Ray Bull as his supervisors.

His doctoral research focuses on investigating what factors facilitate a confession from a suspect during an investigative interview, and what factors help victims of sex crimes provide the most accurate information; in order to establish a national guideline on how to effectively interview relevant parties in sex crime cases.
