I graduated from the University of Malta with a BA (Hons) in Geography in 2009 and from University College London (UCL) with an MSc in Geographic Information Science (GIS) in 2010. Then, I started working as a Technical Expert on GIS within the Temi Zammit Foundation and then as a Project Officer within the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture in the Maltese Ministry for Sustainable Development, the Environment and Climate Change (MSDEC). As of 2014, I got promoted to a Manager (Research Projects) within the same Department. At present, I am involved in a MARE (EU) project – Marine protected Area Network Towards sustainable fisheries in the Central Mediterranean (MANTIS), which aims towards Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries. In addition, I am also working on the initial phase of another project which falls under the European Maritime Fisheries Fund (EMFF). This project will focus on methods on how to reduce fish discards by improving gear selectivity

I am currently a part time PhD researcher at the University of Portsmouth, Geography Department. The working title is ‘A critical analysis of beach management: examining the past, looking at the present and planning for the future’.

The aim of this research is to develop a beach management methodology applicable to any developed small island with strong amenity beach uses taking the Maltese Island as a case study.
