Prior to joining the University of Portsmouth, I completed an MSc in Ecosystem Services at the University of Edinburgh where my research, in collaboration with Forest Research, measured the effectiveness of floodplain woodland in mitigating flood waters. As an undergraduate, I developed ecological and sustainability skills at the Scottish Agricultural College, Edinburgh. My honours project examined approaches to improving urban biodiversity levels in light of continued urbanisation.

To achieve this, I used applied ecology and spatial analysis to identify positive and negative bird-habitat associations that helped determine effective conservation measures for urban bird species while increasing other levels of biota.
