Rebecca is a Senior Research Associate in the Department of Sport and Exercise Science investigating exercise and environmental physiology. Rebecca completed her undergraduate degree in Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Birmingham in 2012. Rebecca then moved to the Centre of Human and Aerospace Physiological Sciences at King’s College London to complete her Masters degree in Human and Applied Physiology. During this time she carried out her research project in the Extreme Environments Laboratory at the University of Portsmouth, under the supervision of Dr Heather Massey and Professor Mike Tipton. Following this, Becky joined the department as a PhD student under the supervision of Dr Jo Corbett in 2013. Rebecca’s PhD, part funded by the English Institute of Sport/UK Sport, investigated the effect of combined stressors (dehydration or hypoxia) on heat acclimation and temperate exercise performance and she has published papers in peer reviewed journals on this topic. Rebecca is currently expanding this line of research and using molecular approaches to underpin the human physiology research within the Department.
Dr Neal is a member of the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences and The Physiological Society.
Dr Neal’s research interests include exercise physiology, applied human physiology, extreme environmental physiology and elite athletic performance.
