I joined the department in 2015 as a visiting senior research fellow. Appointed in January 2005, I have been working as a full time consultant clinical oncologist at QA Hospital, Cosham, Portsmouth.

My academic background includes PhD at St Georges Hospital, London University. During my PhD, I worked to develop, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (NMRS) as a predictive tool of response to various breast cancer treatments. I am member of royal college of physicians (MRCP) and fellow of royal college of radiologist (FRCR). I am Royal College of Radiologist Audit committee member and have recently carried out UK National curative lung cancer radiotherapy practice audit. Currently my main clinical interests are lung and colorectal cancer management using chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

My primary research interest is understanding causal factors for unfitness of cancer patients.

This results in patients not able to undergo curative procedures such as surgery or radical radiotherapy.

My research will examine the potential of using Respiratory Muscle Training (RMT) as a method to improve fitness for curative surgery.
