Collaborative Research Degree Approval Process

Before submitting a proposal to Curriculum Committee, it is important to

  • consult with staff, both in your own Faculty and in Market Research, about the potential market for this proposal

  • consider attending a workshop on course development and course approval which are held twice a year (see Academic Events)

  • start to prepare details that you will need to include in your proposal in order for it to be effectively marketed (for example, JAC codes and admissions information)

  • liaise with your Associate Dean (Academic) and/or Faculty Validation Officer (or equivalent) regarding timelines for the process, including the first formal step of gaining Faculty Executive support

  • seek advice from your Associate Dean (Academic), DCQE and academic colleges on designing assessments, choosing appropriate learning and teaching strategies, research informed teaching

  • involve students, alumni and other relevant stakeholders (for example, external professionals and representatives of relevant industries) in the design process
