Brief Biography

Mary McKeever is a Principal Lecturer in Higher Education and is the Lead Assessor for the Academic Professional Excellence Programme (APEX) and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.  She is the Co-ordinator of the Graduate Students' Professional Development Programme (GPROF) and she developed and co-ordinates the online programme for part time lecturers (ALPROF). Before moving into her current academic development role she was Head of the Academic Skills Unit at Portsmouth.  She has worked at University of Witswatersrand Johannesburg and in the Department of Adult and Continuing Education at Southampton University. Her research interests include Writing across the Disciplines, Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, Academic Literacies and Widening Participation. She is a long standing member of the Higher Education Research Group in Southampton and the Academic Literacies Group at the Institute of Education.
