Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES) 2018

The national Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES) is run by the Higher Education Academy, but managed by the University. The PTES is conducted biennially and asks about the experiences of a student’s taught postgraduate programme. The PTES is very important as it enables students to have a say about their course so that we can understand what they value and where we might improve things.

Postgraduate taught students who fulfill specific criteria were invited to complete the latest PTES survey between 8 May and 15 June 2018.

The questionnaire is divided into several short sections and asks students about their experiences of their programme, and motivations for study. In addition, the survey collects demographical data to help the University gain a better understanding about the experiences of different PGT student groups. 

The sections are divided as follows:

  • Quality of Teaching and Learning
  • Engagement
  • Assessment and Feedback
  • Dissertation or Major Project
  • Organisation and Management
  • Resources and Services
  • Skills Development
  • Overview – including Institutional, Motivational and Demographic Questions
