Mental Health Awareness
Target Audience
Mental Health Awareness is part of the core training which the University of Portsmouth expects staff with management responsibility to complete, ideally within the probationary period. If, however, you have undertaken the Mental Health First Aid course you will not need to attend this workshop.
Outline
This MIB will ensure delegates have a broader understanding of mental health issues and are better placed to recognise and deal with these issues in an appropriate manner
The aims of the workshop are:
To raise awareness of mental health issues by:
- Improving basic knowledge and understanding
- Identifying helpful ways to respond to staff and students who may have mental health needs
Learning Outcomes
- Challenge stereotypes
- Improve ability to recognise signs of mental distress
- Increase confidence in ability to address the needs of those who may have mental health problems
