Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
Mixing it Up 2016
Faculty Celebration Day
Exploring and Celebrating Excellence in Humanities and Social Sciences
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is home to a remarkable and varied range of research, innovation, and learning activity – delivered by a dedicated group of academic, professional, and support service staff.
On 23rd June 2016 we celebrated this activity and the people who make it happen with an exciting mix of talks, exhibitions, roundtables, and other events designed to showcase the Faculty’s excellence. The day was an opportunity to learn about the work of colleagues from across the Faculty, and to explore ways in which we can be even better at what we do than we are already.
Featuring guest speaker Professor Helen Small, Professor of English Literature at the University of Oxford and author of The Value of the Humanities (Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2012).
After the event
Listen to Professor Helen Small’s keynote speech, In Praise of Idleness, at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences’ celebration day, followed by a Q&A session and announcements.
