I am a lecturer in Criminology at the University of Winchester and currently completing a Professional Doctorate in Criminology & Criminal Justice. My research project was to conduct research into the changing face of Neighbourhood Policing in England & Wales in times of austerity, conducting primary research through an observational study on police officers and PCSOs in Dorset Police.  The aim of the research was to evaluate the operational structure of Neighbourhood Policing since the launch of the NRPP in 2008 and what the impact of austerity and local policing demands has had.  The participants in this study ranged from PCSOs to Chief Inspectors and over 250 officers and staff from several policing areas in Dorset contributed to the findings, which eventually produced 44 recommendations to Dorset Police, to restructure and design their method of operation.
