Fully Accredited Health and Safety Training Courses
The Learning at Work department at the University of Portsmouth offers a range of courses that are accredited by NEBOSH, the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health. These globally-recognised, vocationally-related qualifications are designed to meet the health, safety, environmental and risk management needs of all places of work in both the private and public sectors.
Courses are open to businesses, organisations and individuals, as well as members of staff at the University of Portsmouth.

National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
This course is especially beneficial to health and safety coordinators, managers, supervisors and staff who need a broad understanding of health and safety issues, and who need to manage risks effectively. Many people take the National General Certificate as a first step in a career in health and safety. It provides a valuable overview and is a sound basis for further professional study.
The next 13 week, day-release course will begin in March 2019.
National Certificate in Health and Well-Being at Work
This qualification will give managers, supervisors and HR personnel the knowledge and skills to promote good health and well-being at work. The course should be attended by line managers, supervisors, health and safety and HR personnel who are responsible for the health and well-being of employees as part of their day-to-day duties.
The next 6 week, day-release course will begin in January 2019.
Fire Safety and Risk Management Certificate
This course is specifically for those with fire safety responsibilities in the workplace and should be attended by managers and supervisory staff who need to ensure that their organisation meets its responsibilities under fire safety legislation. The qualification will enable holders to carry out fire risk assessments in most low risk workplaces and identify a range of fire protective and preventative measures. Candidates need to complete the first paper in the General Certificate (NGC1) to obtain the full qualification.

National Certificate in Environmental Management
This course focuses on UK law and environmental management systems and should be attended by managers, supervisors and employees who have responsibility for managing environmental issues as part of their day to day duties.
