The Library Website
The Library's web is a valuable source of information about the physical Library and its resources as well as lots of guidance on how to make the most of our facilities and services.
The Library web consists of a number of separate, but integrated physical sites as well as a WordPress based blog.
All sites are covered by a single search function, found under the Website tab on the search box at the top right hand corner of this page.
Our website search uses a custom Google search engine, so it works exactly the same way that Google works when searching the internet. Aside from simply typing in a key word, there are some useful tips you can use to help get exactly the results you want. Note these tips work equally well on our website and full internet Google searches.
- To exlude pages with a particular word, use a minus sign before the unwanted word. E.g: library -catalogue
- To search for an exact phrase, enter the phrase inside quotation marks. E.g: "library catalogue"
- You can also search for partial phrases by using a * as a place holder which represents any unknown terns. E.g: "library * catalogue"
- By default, if you enter two words into the search box, Google will retrieve only those pages which include both words. However you can ask Google to return pages containing either word by using the OR operator (note use of capitals. E.g.: library OR catalogue
