I have taught at the University for over 3 years, starting with the Economics and Finance subject group, teaching the economics of travel and tourism at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels.  More recently I have worked in the Marketing and Sales subject group on the BA (Hons) Hospitality Management courses and supported marketing students with their Business Research Projects.  Throughout my time at the University I have supervised both undergraduate and post-graduate dissertations, covering a variety of marketing topics.  Professionally I have experience from many sectors of the travel and tourism industry, including airlines, tour operators, travel agencies and cruise companies, working for companies such as British Airways, Thomson and P&O.  I am currently working on a PhD proposal to investigate how holiday providers can extend the tourism experience and develop pre-travel opportunities.

Teaching Responsibilities

I am currently drafting a new level 6 unit for both BA (Hons) Hospitality Management courses, entitled “The Tourism Experience”, to be delivered in 2014/15.  I am also supervising several MSc, MA and MBA dissertations.

My research interests relate to the tourism experience, with particular focus on pre-travel, loyalty within visitor attractions and the development of the cruise sector.
