My teaching career began at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus where I not only developed my love for teaching but also attained my Postgraduate Certificate in University Teaching and Learning. I enjoy presenting students with ‘the marketing toolbox’ and assisting them as they grow to understand the marketing theories, concepts, and forms of analysis which make up that toolbox and are then able to effectively use the appropriate tools in practical situations. My teaching style therefore reflects this passion and I develop teaching sessions which seek to engage students in the theoretical material and provide them opportunities to use that knowledge in a practical activities.
However, my teaching is also founded in academic research and I am therefore completing my PhD in Marketing at the University of Strathclyde. My PhD research seeks to understand consumers who take part in online customer engagement behaviour by focusing on the antecedents to that behaviour. Finally, I have a number of years of experience in marketing roles and providing consultancy services to a number of small enterprises in Barbados, which also influences my teaching and understanding of marketing in the real world.
I co-ordinate and teach on a variety of units across the Marketing programmes at both the Undergraduate and postgraduate levels including Introduction to Digital Marketing, Creative Communications, Marketing In Action, Marketing Principles and Practice, Developing Marketing Communications and Employability, Research and Personal Development, Digital Marketing Tools and Techiniques and Digitial Marketing Strategy. Additionally I also supervise research students at the Postgraduate level whose interests are similiar to my own.
My research interest include; customer engagement behaviour, customer engagement, services and motivation.
