Research Title: Investigation of the Implementation of Lean Management Philosophy in Human Resource Functions and Processes in Nigerian Business Environment.

Lean management philosophy is a culture of continuous improvement that involves ‘a zero tolerance for waste’. Waste from ‘Lean’ perspective is any activity or process that adds cost but does not add value (Shah and Ward, 2003, p. 129; Furlan, Vinelli and Pont, 2011, p. 836). The classical identified waste are: overproduction, excessive waiting time, excessive motion, unnecessary transportation, excess inventory, defects, underutilization of human knowledge and expertise available in the system (Womack and Jones, 2003; Wong and Wong 2011). This research proposes a study into the implementation of lean management philosophy in Human Resource functions and processes in the Nigerian Business Environment. It would focus on the implementation of the Lean philosophy in the Human Resource Management function of Recruitment and Selection within Lean practicing organisations in the Nigerian Business environment.
