During many successful years working in the service and consultancy sectors, in roles relating to strategic and operations management, I completed a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) and Postgraduate Certificate in Learning & Teaching.
Having joined the University of Portsmouth Business School in 2009, I work as a Senior Lecturer in the Operations and Business Systems Subject Group; specialising in Operations & Quality Management, Performance Measurement, Continuous Improvement, Improvement Cycles, Change Management, Creative Problem Solving, Employee Participation and Inclusivity, These areas are where my teaching, research, publications, consultancy & facilitation work is focused. I have published a number of papers in reputable Journals, and presented my research through Asia, Europe and America. My Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) is a Critical Evaluation on how Service Based Organisations Sustain Incremental Performance Improvement.
I am very comfortable in the lecture theater, and enjoy engaging students with my somewhat lively and inclusive lecturing style, innovative seminar activities, and application of theory through interesting, diverse and relevant organisational cases. My high performing L4, L6 & L7 Units have led to a number of lecturing awards.
Balance is essential to a healthy lifestyle; I enjoy spending time with my beautiful children, I visit the gym most days of the week, have studied martial arts for over 25 years (although not much nowadays), and am aiming to earn an Age Group Great Britain vest in Triathlon/Ironman over the next couple of years. I also enjoy hacking a ball round local golf courses with colleagues and friends.
