I am currently a Visiting Lecturerat the University of Portsmouth. Until July 2016 I was Head of Postgraduate Taught Programmes, and was previously Head of Department for the Department of Strategy and Business Systems for eight years. I have also been a member of Academic Council and the University Quality Assurance Committee, and I have been external examiner and chaired or been a member of approval events both in the UK and overseas.  Prior to joining the University of Portsmouth, I worked for a variety of public and private organisations in Project Management, Systems Analyst and Operational Research roles.

Teaching Responsibilities

My teaching interests are Project Management and Management Information Systems, and I have qualified as a PRINCE2 practitioner.  I have taught on a variety of postgraduate and undergraduate programmes including the MBA, DBA and BA (Hons) Business Studies.  I am a Fellow of the Operational Research Society (FORS), a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and a Fellow of the Management Chartered Institute (FMCI).



My main research interests are in the development and application of Group Decision Support Systems, and I have published articles, undertaken business consultancy in the UK and overseas, and received grant income in this area.  I also have research interests in Information Systems Adoption and Project Management.

Using a GDSS to support organisational learning in SMEs – research contract funded by Welsh Development Agency (2002).

Development of a intranet based job competency database for Janssen-Cilag (2001)

Using a  GDSS for Child Care Conferences - Research Contract funded by  Nuffield Foundation (Project Leaders - University of Glamorgan)    (1998-99).

Research contract from Royal Navy in Micro-level Risk and Forecasting, including supervision of full time researcher.            (1998).

Project Leader of Teaching and Learning project entitled ”Using a Group Support System to support student learning”, funded by University of Portsmouth Teaching and Learning Fund   (1998)

Development of a Management Information System to analyse Royal Navy manpower trends (1996 - 1997).
