We offer the following talks and workshops about higher education (HE) in schools and colleges. If you are looking for alternative topics or adapted workshops, please contact us.

Introduction to HE

This workshop gives an overview of HE, including how you apply, the different types of degrees and variety of subjects available to study.

Why HE?

A detailed workshop on HE covering what to look for in a degree, what university can offer you, skills and experiences you can gain plus some useful tips.

Student life

A workshop detailing what students can get involved with at university, the different clubs and societies, accommodation and some useful websites.

Completing personal statements

This workshop will cover what a personal statement is used for, things to include, how to structure it and some useful hints and tips.

Transition to HE

An interactive workshop exploring the skills needed for university including analytical and innovative thinking, communication, developing an opinion on topics, researching and being a reflective practitioner. The workshop is activity based and provides students with a workbook to take away to support their transition and study skills.

Why HE? workshop for vocational students

These interactive activity based workshops are similar to traditional ‘Why HE?’ talks but are tailored to the subject area that the students are studying. This allows for a greater variety of specific examples to be used. The workshop will also cover the different types of degree on offer, job opportunities, experiences at universities and some top tips.

Student finance presentation

This presentation explains all the funding options available to UK undergraduate students.

This is an interactive workshop for students in years 12 and 13. Together students study and discuss a mock student bank statement - looking out for spending pitfalls, and examples of bad money management. The session also shows students how to create a budget.

Student finance application workshop

Students are usually able to apply for funding from January. This workshop guides students through the online application process. It can be held as either a drop in session, or as a scheduled workshop, but needs to take place in a computer room.
