The University glasshouse facility is within the main University campus, adjacent to the Anglesea Building. The main facility consists of four areas within a single glasshouse each independently controlled in terms of temperature and day length with one set to tropical conditions. Additionally two exterior glasshouses area available but these have no environmental control features. Automatic watering, continual temperature logging, bench space and a large drying oven are also available.
Using the facility
This facility is used for both teaching and research with examples including:
- Quantitative genetics associated with floral evolution and plant mating systems in tropical and Mediterranean plants
- Plant growth trials
- Plant environmental interactions
- Maintaining plant collections
