I graduated from the University of Portsmouth with first class honors in Marine Biology in June 2014. My time as an undergraduate led me to develop a keen interest in the interactions of organisms with a rapidly changing environment and specifically the impacts of anthropogenic pollutants on aquatic organisms. Consequently I chose to make ecotoxicology the focus of my future research. I am interested in the biological effects of exposure to low-doses of ionizing radiation in aquatic invertebrate species. I am studying for a NERC-funded PhD entitled: The Effects of Ionizing Radiation on Aquatic Invertebrates: Combining Field Studies in Lakes of Varying Contamination at Chernobyl with Laboratory Studies.
