I work as a Research Associate at University of Portsmouth. My project is called “ProSuDS” and the aim of this research is to establish a standardised Toolkit of valuation techniques and guidance for use by property professionals in ascribing a “value” to Sustainable drainage systems that are accepted by developers, planners and regulators.

Basically, I am a Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineer and I have done my Masters in Industrial Environmental Management from Abertay University, Scotland. I am currently in the final stages of my PhD research in Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) and Ecosystem Services from Abertay University.

I have taught Graphics (2D and 3D AutoCAD) and Introduction to Civil Engineering modules to BSc Civil Engineering students. I have also done tutorials on MapInfo for MSc Social Science students.


I have worked as a research assistant at Urban Water Technology Centre (UWTC) at Abertay on a number of projects. I have been a part of two CREW projects, they are “Diffuse Pollution at Urban Areas” and “The Source Control Measures in SUDS”. I have worked on the Connected Communities research projects like Sparks, Connected Communities and ICE SaV. I have also been a part of greenspace and community related projects like ‘Community Garden at Lyon Street’ and Abertay Crucible project.

I have worked on the SKINT project, which was to create a basic web portal for the integration of SUDS in to new developments. My work included inputs to the technical areas like hydraulic design criteria and water quality design criteria and to critically review the case studies.

I have also done the stability calculations to determine the scour at the river bank side at River Dee, Aberdeen. The long-term scour and short-term scour are calculated as per the guidance in CIRIA manual. I have created an information sheet about SUDS, which includes different aspects like SUDS design, SUDS and flooding, maintenance, outlet control and whole life cost. I have created an image library about SUDS and urban rivers for UWTC. I have also done some work to compare the rainfall observed and modelling data in order to validate the performance of SUDS treatment train.
