Dr Yu is a Professor in the School of Creative Technologies. He previously held an appointment with the University of Glasgow. He has won prizes for his study and research include Excellent Undergraduate Prize (provincial level), the Best PhD Thesis Prize, EPSRC DHPA Awards (PhD) and Vice Chancellor Travel Prize. Dr Yu is an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Human-Machine Systems. He is a member of the Peer Review College, the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), UK.

My research interests include vision, computer graphics and application of machine learning to these areas. Particularly, I research in image/video processing and recognition, facial expression, human action and affective analysis (multidimensional) and geometric processing of human/facial performances.
