A-Level Geology Teachers Engineering Geology and Geohazards CPD Course
Date: 12-13th July 2018
Venue: University of Portsmouth: Richmond Building
A two day CPD Course designed around the new OCR and WJEC Eduqas curriculum standards for teaching engineering geology and geological hazards to A-level students.
Day 1: a series of seminars, case studies, simulations and laboratory practical’s in: geological hazards and risk, tunnels and underground space, Civil Engineering and geology, geotechnical engineering, 3D visualization, and landslides. Employability and careers in Engineering Geology will be discussed through an interactive session with our industrial partners.
Day 2: trip to Lulworth Cove to study the landslide risk at this iconic geological locality led by Dr Andy Gibson who has been researching the landslide hazard and associated risk to tourists at the site.
All materials associated with the course will be available as downloadable workbooks for students, powerpoint presentations and a field guide on landslide risk at Lulworth Cove.
The CPD course is free for teachers to attend including two nights B&B accommodation, lunch during the course plus a social event in the evening of Day 1.
