My academic background is within the field of Special Educational Needs and dyslexia in particular, and I have worked as a teacher and as a Special Educational Needs Coordinator. Additionally I worked as Special Needs Advisor for Portsmouth Education Authority prior to joining the University of Portsmouth.  I am a Master Practitioner in NLP and a qualified NLP coach.  I have worked in the University since 2001, contributing to a range of courses including undergraduate, postgraduate and Initial Teacher Education. I received the University Learning & Teaching Excellence Award 2007 for my contribution to a group project exploring the development of critical thinking skills.
