I joined the Radiography team in February 2006 following many years of clinical experience in a number of Radiotherapy Centres in the UK. I also had the opportunity to work at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, when the country was developing its national Cancer & Radiotherapy programme during the 1980s.
My clinical expertise covered all aspects of the radiotherapy pathway from pre-treatment preparation to treatment delivery and I have always been involved in the education, supervision & assessment of students in the clinical environment. My teaching role is a therefore natural progression of these responsibilities. My academic research interests cover the role of simulated and virtual reality environments in the learning, teaching and assessment of clinical and spatial visualisation skills.
I am the Therapeutic Radiography undergraduate course leader and teach a range of subjects focussing mainly on clinical skills, cancer management, radiotherapy technique and equipment, clinical governance, patient safety & quality management.
My academic research covers the role of simulated and virtual reality environments in the learning, teaching and assessment of clinical and spatial visualisation skills. My clinical research interests involve clinical governance and quality improvement, the integration of new technology into clinical practice with a focus on Linear Accelerator based imaging and the developing role of radiotherapy.
