I am an experienced Speech and Language Therapist, having qualified in 2000 at City University in London. I have worked for local NHS Trusts in Portsmouth since 2001 in acute and community settings with a wide range of adult acquired disorders. I completed my MRes in 2013, looking at Allied Health Professionals commitment to working for the NHS. In 2010 I completed the diploma for Advanced Clinical Practice in Dysphagia (University of Manchester). Prior to qualifying as a Speech and Language Therapist, in 1995 I graduated with a BA (Hons) in German and English Language at Oxford Brookes University.

Teaching Responsibilities

I am the Course Leader for FdSc Speech, Language and Communication Science and BSc Human Communication Science. On these courses, I am the unit leader for Applied Linguistics and Fundamental Ideas in Human Communication.

Research interests include the wider role and professional profile of Allied Health Professionals, as well as long-term adjustment to acquired communication disability.
