Portsmouth Law School
Our curriculum is designed to inspire, arouse curiosity and give our students opportunities to learn through practical experience as well as to pursue their own research interests.
Careers and Employability
It’s never too early to start planning your future career and, in fact, if you want to be a solicitor, the application process begins in your second year of university. Even if you don’t want to be a lawyer, it’s important to get work experience and to do some research while you are at university so that you don’t graduate with an empty CV and no idea of where you’re heading.
Research and Postgraduate Research Opportunities
We are committed to delivering high quality research that underpins our teaching and continues to improve on the thriving research culture of our law staff. This means that we can provide you with high quality support when you engage in your legal research at Portsmouth.
Join the Law Society
The University of Portsmouth Law Society is a union-affiliated society run for the benefit of its membership. Joining the Law Society is an essential and great complement to your legal studies.
Courtroom and Innovation
The Law School benefits from a very realistic mock courtroom which is supported by the latest technology and is used to teach undergraduates and postgraduates, familiarising them with law in action. As well as making their learning more innovative, this facility enhances employability. The courtroom is also used to support workshops and teaching for people who need some training in law or legal skills, perhaps for business purposes, or simply to improve their CVs.
