I originally studied History at University of Durham. I took a law conversion at the University of Sussex and Bar Vocational Course at the Inns of Court School of Law. I was called to the Bar by the Middle Temple in 1997. I also hold an MA in Humanities from the Open University. I am currently studying for a PhD in Technology Enhanced Learning at Lancaster University.

I practised as a barrister in independent practice from 1997 to 2003. In 2003 I took up a post as Assistant Land Registrar at HM Land Registry. While working as an Assistant Land Registrar, I developed an interest in legal training and legal education, writing and delivering numerous internal and external training events. Having previously taught as an Associate Lecturer at the Open University, I decided to take up teaching full time. I joined Portsmouth Business School in 2007.

Between 2008 and 2015 I was Director of Postgraduate Law Programmes within the School of Law. In 2015 I was appointed Associate Head of the School of Law. I moved to my current role of Faculty Learning and Teaching Coordinator at the end of 2016.

In terms of research, my main interests are in the role of technology in delivering effective assessment feedback and developing oral presentation skills.

Teaching Responsibilities

I am the unit co-ordinator for the undergraduate units Land Law, Art of Persuasion and Current Legal Issues.
