What is HLPL?
HLPL is a joint initiative between the School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences and Lalys Pharmacy. Undergraduate pharmacy students, who are undertaking their Master of Pharmacy degree (MPharm) to become registered pharmacists, attend a working pharmacy to meet real patients.
Students studying in all four years of the MPharm degree visit the Healthy Living Pharmacy Live Education Centre at Lalys pharmacy under the supervision of practising academic pharmacist tutors.
All tutors involved in HLPL are registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), the regulatory body for all pharmacists in the UK.
Why do students need to talk to me?
This initiative allows students to learn and meet patients at the same time. This enhances their skills, and care of patients.
Thank you for taking the time to talk to our students, or taking an interest in this initiative.
Any information about you, your medicines, your ongoing treatment or any other personal information will be treated as confidential, and will never be disclosed by students, staff or the university.
I would like more information, who can I talk to?
Mr Michael Leech (Senior Lecturer and registered pharmacist) is the academic lead, and can be contacted by telephone 02392 843588, or by email Mike.Leech@port.ac.uk
I would like to be more involved with students...
We are always looking at ways for patients and members of the public to help us enhance the course at Portsmouth, and we need to take part in workshops and assessments. Please contact Michael Leech (contact details above) if you would like to participate.
