Senior lecturer/Year One Tutor/Peer Assisted Learning Co-ordinator

I have taught at Portsmouth since 1999, firstly as a Teacher Practitioner and since 2001 as a full time senior lecturer. I currently manage a Year One (level 4) unit for the undergraduate MPharm programme – Introduction to Pharmacy Practice.

Teaching Responsibilities

My teaching is almost exclusively to undergraduate MPharm students across all four years of the programme. Themes include community pharmacy practice and clinical simulation.

My role as Year One Tutor encompasses supporting all Year One MPharm undergraduates on to the MPharm and with their transition into university life.

My role as Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) co-ordinator encompasses training and supporting carefully selected Year Two (level 5) MPharm undergraduates to undertake their PAL leader role. PAL provides a safe environment for students to discuss ideas and resolve questions. PAL promotes collaborative learning and provides an opportunity for PAL Leaders to share their experiences.

I supervise 6 undergraduate MPharm projects per academic year.

I am a PhD student and am due to complete in September 2017. Project title: An investigation into students’ learning habits and where they turn to for support.
