Association of University Administrators (AUA)

The AUA –Association of University Administrators - Inspiring Professionalism in HE

AUA is at the forefront of professional development in higher education administration and management. The AUA continuing professional development framework is the culmination of a highly collaborative two year project jointly funded by AUA, HEFCE (Leadership, Governance and Management funding), LFHE and HEA.

The aims of the project were to develop and implement a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) framework supporting HE professional services staff across the UK in their career development to:

  • enhance institutional performance through high quality staff
  • develop management and leadership capability
  • enable career development planning
  • provide a framework for sustainable practice in career planning
  • foster equality and diversity of development opportunities across the sector.

The AUA exists to advance and promote the professional recognition and development of all who work in professional services roles in higher education, and to be an authoritative advocate and champion for the section.

There are nine key behavioural groups within the professional behaviours framework. Within each area behaviours include examples:  how it relates to self, others and the organisation.
