Omar Saleh is a practitioner academic, a business leader and consultant. His unique mix of skills, education and experience owes itself in great part to over 40 years of working with some of the most recognised power brands. These include: IBM, Shell, Ernst & Young (now EY), Courtaulds, John Brown, Mosaix (Digital Systems International and Viewstar Software Inc), Gulf Inspection International, Aventis, Syngenta, Renault, Philips, AXA Fortis, Egg, KOC and BP.
Omar is a senior lecturer at University in Portsmouth in the Faculty of Business & Law in Strategy, Enterprise and Innovation Subject Group. He is also Chairman and Managing Director of Focuspoint Organisation Ltd and, and until last July, a Global Director with Ernst & Young (now EY). He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts Manufactures & Commerce and was the 1st Vice Chair of the European Marketing Confederation.
Omar's over 40 years of experience started in Engineering in the Chemical, Petrochemical, Oil and Gas Industries where he quickly gained his Chartered Engineering recognition, together with membership of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. He moved to the business world crossing Industries and functions and amassing a valuable mix of achievements in the fields of business strategy, performance improvement, marketing, sales, brand management and communications. He had direct working knowledge in: Corporate Strategy, Performance Improvement, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Efficiency & Effectiveness of Distribution Channels and Supply Chain, Marketing. Laterally, he worked extensively on Strategy & Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) including impact and influence on Corporate Governance of Organisations. He is an advisor to large and medium companies on strategy, (with specific focus on implementation, change management and business modelling), Key Account Management (including GTM methods), Sales and Investor Relations.
Omar worked across multi-cultural business environments on strategic and operational change management programmes and initiatives in over 30 countries. His latest 15 years have seen him spending significant time (over 40%) on such initiatives in Japan, China, Hong Kong, India, Singapore, Australia, Brasil, Mexico, USA, Canada, The Middle East and over most Western European Countries.
Omar is a keen sportsman (both participative and arm-chair), an avid reader and cinema goer. He is married with three grown up children and lives in Portsmouth, UK.
