University of Portsmouth Environment Network
UPEN is made up of 250+ professional, research and education staff at the University all contributing to the sustinability and environment agenda. Many members of the network are working on projects which contribute to multiple institutional themes, which helps to generate truly interdisciplinary projects and initiatives. The network is a dynamic system in a constant state of change incorporating new projects and members each day. Some of our members can be viewed below:
Dr Michelle Hale - Head of School, School of Earth and Environmental Sciences
The marine environment is complex and can't be studied without marine biologists, marine chemists and oceanographers working together - the network helps facilitate and foster these collaborations.
Professor Paul Hayes - Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education & Student Experience and Environment Network Sponsor
We encourage our staff and students to build a culture of excellence and collaboration, embedding interdisciplinary activity in our research and innovation endeavours.
Dr David Hutchinson - Innovation and Impact Development Manager
I am driven by the firm belief that the challenges of sustainability require us to work together across disciplines and sectors, in order to find real-world relevant solutions.
Dr Heather Rumble - Senior Lecturer in Environmental Geography
As an urban ecologist, I use the network to expand my research connections both within academia and beyond.
